Welcome to week 7! Just a heads-up, the reading this week is a complete chapter so make sure you plan accordingly.
The reading and short video contains some of the most important and relevant (to EMS education) teaching information that has been available to us in the last 25 years! Even though the research is decades old in many cases.
This information should also be given to all incoming students because it provides guidance on the best studying strategies for successful learning.
If you want to know what the most important buzzword in education is today, it’s Retrieval Practice. Also called the Testing Effect but isn’t as common because of the negative connotations with ’testing.’ Think simple flashcards and self-quizzing.
If you know someone who is a frequent highlighter and re-reader of textbooks as a form of studying, I’m sorry to say this is one of the most INEFFECTIVE ways to learn!
